Get startedThese companies use Descript. Not bad!
01
Upload your video
Drag and drop your video files into a new Descript project or record a clip with the quick recorder. Descript works with many formats, including MP4, MPEG, MOV, MKV, and FLV.
02
Change the frame rate
After uploading, click the Aspect ratio and video settings icon on the upper left of the canvas, then click Other. Under Frame rate, pick from 23.98 FPS to 60 FPS. Choose 24 FPS for a film look, 30 FPS for standard web video, or 60 FPS for sports and gaming content. You can also adjust orientation and aspect ratio in the same panel.
03
Export your video
Once you've set your video frame rate, finalize any edits, then download the file by selecting Export. You can also publish directly to your YouTube channel or share a web link for embedding.
Non-destructive video conversion
Descript preserves your original file and revision history, which means you can revert to earlier versions any time. Test different frame rates on duplicate projects without affecting your source files.
Match footage and create effects across projects
Mix clips from different cameras—GoPro at 60 FPS, DSLR at 24 FPS, iPhone at 30 FPS—which keeps your edits visually consistent. Record at higher frame rates to create smooth slow-motion effects, or convert gaming footage from 60+ FPS down to 30 FPS for easier editing and smaller file sizes.
Fix platform compatibility issues
Different platforms prefer different frame rates. Convert your video to match YouTube's 24–60 FPS range, social media requirements, or client specifications—without re-shooting your footage.

What is the best frame rate for YouTube?
YouTube supports 24 FPS up to 60 FPS, and the ideal setting varies with your content. Talking-head pieces often work well at 24–30 FPS, while gaming or action-packed uploads look crisper at 60 FPS.
Can I convert 30 fps video to 60 fps?
Yes. Converting 30 FPS to 60 FPS is straightforward with a video FPS increaser. Doubling the frame rate can change the pacing, so keep in mind that the final video might feel faster.
Is frame rate conversion free with Descript?
If you're on the free plan, you can upload files up to 1GB with 5GB of storage and convert frame rates without a fee. The free plan includes one watermark-free export each month. For unlimited, watermark-free exports, paid plans start at $12/month.
Does higher FPS mean better quality?
A higher frame rate increases the number of frames per second, making motion smoother. It doesn't improve resolution, though it can enhance slow-motion playback.
Which FPS setting is better for 4K videos?
30 FPS brings a more cinematic look to 4K footage. If you're filming sports or action clips, 60 FPS usually provides sharper details. Models like the Panasonic H5 II, GH 5, or GH 6 can shoot 4K at up to 60 FPS.
