Add English to Your Video

1) Sign up for Descript for free. You get one free hour of transcription per month, and no credit card is needed.

2) On the dashboard, click "New Project" and then select "Video Project".

3) Upload your video file. A "Transcribing..." pop-up will appear. Choose English as the transcription language and name the speaker(s).

4) Once the transcription is complete, review and correct any errors using the Correct mode (press C). Utilize Descript's editing tools, like the "Remove filler words" feature, to clean up the transcript.

5) To add subtitles, click on the "Captions" icon. Choose the caption style that suits your video.

6) Preview your video to ensure the subtitles are properly timed and aligned with the audio.

7) When satisfied, go to "Publish" to export your video with subtitles, or download a standalone subtitle file in SRT or VTT format to upload with your video.

• Use Clear Fonts: Choose a legible font like Arial or Helvetica to ensure your subtitles are easy to read.
• Set Proper Timing: Make sure subtitles appear and disappear in sync with the spoken words to avoid confusion.
• Limit Line Length: Keep each subtitle line to a maximum of 42 characters to maintain readability.
• Include Speaker Labels: If multiple people are speaking, use labels to indicate who is talking for clarity.
• Check Grammar and Spelling: Review your subtitles for any grammatical or spelling errors to maintain professionalism.
