Highlight Video Maker

Create professional sports highlight videos, event sizzle reels, movie trailers, and more with Descript’s highlight video maker features. Use AI or a searchable transcript to quickly find your most highlight-worthy moments, then cut and combine your clips as easily as editing text.

How to create a highlight reel video

Step 1

Import your footage

Upload your video clips, images, and audio to Descript by dragging and dropping the files into a new project. Whether it's footage from a sports event, a conference, or corporate event, Descript will automatically generate a transcript that’s synced with the timeline.

Step 2

Highlight your transcript to create clips

Use the Find Good Clips AI action in the Actions menu to highlight potential moments to clip in your transcript. By clicking Select in script, it'll add a highlight to these clips, after which you can duplicate all highlights or specific colors to a new composition. You can also highlight clips manually by selecting sections of the transcript and right-clicking to apply a specific highlight.

Step 3

Create your highlight video

With a rough cut of your highlight reel in a new composition, you can now freely trim and rearrange your clips to structure your highlight video while preserving the original files. Create scenes with a '/' in the transcript to make it easy to add transitions, effects, and layers to specific moments. When you're done, click Publish > Export to share your highlight reel.
