Begin by opening Descript and creating a new project. Drag and drop your video file into the project area. Descript will generate a transcript based on your audio.
Once your video is uploaded, right-click the video track in the timeline to select Detach audio. This action separates the audio from the video track, creating an independent audio layer. Select this audio layer and press the delete key to delete it. You can also just mute the audio you want by selecting a range in the timeline or transcript, and click the Mute icon under Audio properties.
You can continue editing with your newly-muted video without audio, or go to Publish > Export to choose the appropriate video format and settings for your needs.
